MacBook Data Recovery from Dead Macs | Flat-Rate Pricing

If your MacBook has stopped turning on and your important files are trapped inside, data recovery is often still possible. Many newer MacBook models use soldered SSD storage, which means the storage is built into the logic board and cannot simply be removed like a normal drive.

At IT-Tech Online, we specialise in MacBook data recovery from dead, water-damaged and no-power Macs. In many cases, the logic board must be repaired or temporarily revived before the data can be accessed.

We offer clear flat-rate data recovery options for many Intel and Apple Silicon MacBooks from 2017 to 2026 with soldered SSD storage.

MacBook data recovery often requires board-level repair before the files can be accessed.

Flat-Rate MacBook Data Recovery Pricing

For many dead MacBooks with soldered SSD storage, we offer two main data recovery options.

Time Machine Backup — $650

Where possible, we create a full Time Machine backup from the repaired or temporarily revived MacBook.

This is the best option when the MacBook can be revived enough to boot or access the system correctly. A Time Machine backup gives you a complete backup that can usually be restored to another Mac.

User Data Backup — $600

If a Time Machine backup is not possible, we can usually recover the main user data folders, including:

  • Desktop
  • Documents
  • Downloads
  • Pictures
  • Movies
  • Music

This option is suitable when the MacBook cannot complete a full Time Machine backup, but the user files can still be accessed and copied.

Flat-rate pricing applies to many Intel and Apple Silicon MacBooks from 2017 to 2026 with soldered SSD storage. Assessment is required. No Fix, No Fee applies if we cannot recover the required data.

Why Dead MacBook Data Recovery Is Different

On many older computers, data recovery may involve removing the SSD or hard drive and connecting it to another machine. Many modern MacBooks are different.

From many 2017–2026 MacBook models, the SSD storage is soldered to the logic board. On T2 and Apple Silicon models, the data is also linked to the security system of the Mac. This means the logic board often needs to work before the data can be accessed.

If the MacBook has no power, liquid damage, burnt components or a failed power circuit, the first step is often board-level repair. We may need to repair the logic board enough to start the MacBook or bring up the required data access circuits.

We Specialise in Board-Level Mac Data Recovery

IT-Tech Online is not just a general computer repair shop. We specialise in Mac logic board repair and difficult no-power faults.

We regularly work on cases involving:

  • Dead MacBooks with no power
  • Water-damaged MacBooks

  • MacBooks that turn on but do not boot
  • Burnt or corroded logic boards
  • Macs rejected as uneconomical by other repair options
  • Data recovery where the MacBook itself is not worth repairing

In many cases, the goal is not to fully repair the MacBook for long-term use. The goal is to repair the logic board enough to safely recover the customer’s important data.

Supported MacBook Models

Our flat-rate data recovery options apply to many Intel and Apple Silicon MacBooks from 2017 to 2026 with soldered SSD storage, including many:

  • MacBook Pro models
  • MacBook Air models
  • Intel MacBooks with T2 security chip
  • Apple Silicon M1, M2, M3 , M4  and M5 MacBooks

Every case still needs to be assessed first. Some severe faults may prevent data access, especially if the storage chips, security system, encryption or critical logic board areas are badly damaged.

No Fix, No Fee Data Recovery Policy

We understand that customers often contact us when the data is very important. We also understand that sending a dead MacBook for data recovery can feel stressful.

Our No Fix, No Fee policy applies if we cannot recover the required data.

If we cannot access or recover the required files, you do not pay the data recovery fee. We will explain the reason clearly, such as severe storage damage, encryption issues, security system failure or logic board damage that prevents data access.

Mail-In MacBook Data Recovery Australia-Wide

You do not need to visit our Melbourne workshop in person. IT-Tech Online offers a dedicated mail-in service for customers across Victoria and Australia.

  • Return shipping after the job is completed

When Time Machine Backup Is Possible

A Time Machine backup is usually the preferred option when the MacBook can be revived enough to access the operating system and complete a full backup.

This option is useful when you want to restore your files, user account and settings to another Mac. Where possible, we will attempt this option first because it gives the most complete recovery result.

When User Data Backup Is the Better Option

Sometimes a full Time Machine backup is not possible. The MacBook may be unstable, the system may not boot correctly, or the logic board may only stay running long enough to access important files.

In these cases, we can usually recover the main user data folders, including Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Pictures, Movies and Music.

This option is often suitable when the customer mainly needs personal files, work documents, photos, videos or music, rather than a full system backup.

Important Limitations

Although we have a high success rate with dead MacBook data recovery, not every case is recoverable. Data recovery may not be possible if:

  • The SSD/NAND storage chips are physically damaged
  • Critical security or encryption circuits cannot be restored
  • The MacBook password is unavailable when required
  • The logic board has severe burn damage or missing board layers
  • Previous repair attempts have caused further damage
  • The MacBook has been heavily corroded for a long time

We will always assess the case and explain the realistic options before proceeding.
