MacBook Data Recovery Sydney | Dead Mac, Water Damage & Mail-In Repair

Sydney Mac users have many computer repair options, but data recovery from a dead MacBook is a very different type of job. If your MacBook will not turn on, has liquid damage, or contains important files you cannot access, normal repair methods may not be enough.

Many newer Intel and Apple Silicon MacBooks use soldered SSD storage. This means the storage is part of the logic board and cannot simply be removed like a normal SSD or hard drive. If the logic board has no power, a failed USB-C charging circuit, corrosion, a shorted power rail or a damaged SSD power circuit, the data may remain trapped until the original board can be repaired or temporarily revived.

IT-Tech Online provides Australia-wide mail-in MacBook data recovery and board-level repair from our Melbourne workshop. Sydney customers can send dead, water-damaged or no-power MacBooks to us for specialist diagnosis, clear repair advice and No Fix, No Fee service.

Sydney MacBook Data Recovery for Dead and No-Power Macs

A MacBook that will not turn on may still contain recoverable data. The difficulty is that the data may depend on the original logic board working correctly.

On many 2017–2026 MacBook models, the SSD storage is soldered to the board and connected to Apple’s security system. If the board cannot start, standard drive removal is not an option. The recovery process may require electronic diagnosis before any files can be copied.

At IT-Tech Online, we test the circuits that allow the MacBook to power on, communicate with the storage and reach a recoverable state. This can include USB-C charging circuits, main power rails, SSD power rails, shorted components, liquid-damaged areas and power sequence faults.

For many Intel and Apple Silicon MacBooks from 2017 to 2026 with soldered SSD storage, we offer flat-rate data recovery options. A full Time Machine backup is $650 where possible. If a Time Machine backup cannot be completed, we can usually recover the main user data folders — Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Pictures, Movies and Music — for $600.

Water-Damaged MacBook Repair Sydney

Liquid damage is one of the most common causes of dead MacBooks. A spill may damage the keyboard area, trackpad, USB-C charging section, display circuit, backlight circuit or logic board power rails.

Sometimes the MacBook stops immediately. Other times, it works for a few days or weeks before corrosion causes a no-power fault.

We commonly help with Sydney MacBooks showing symptoms such as:

  • MacBook not turning on after liquid damage
  • USB-C charger stuck at 5V
  • MacBook not switching to 20V charging
  • Black screen or no backlight
  • MacBook starts then shuts down
  • Keyboard or trackpad failure after a spill
  • Liquid damage around the logic board
  • Burnt or shorted power circuits
  • Important data trapped inside a dead MacBook

If your MacBook has been exposed to liquid, avoid charging it or repeatedly trying to turn it on. This can make the damage worse.

Why Sydney Customers Mail MacBooks to IT-Tech Online

In Sydney, it is easy to find repair shops for screens, batteries and keyboards. The challenge is finding the right help when the MacBook is completely dead and the data is the main priority.

Some customers contact us after being told the logic board needs replacement. Board replacement may fix the computer, but it often does not recover the files stored on the original board. For data recovery, the original board may need to be repaired or temporarily revived.

Our workshop focuses on Mac logic board repair, no-power diagnosis and data recovery from dead or liquid-damaged MacBooks. Instead of replacing large parts first, we diagnose the failed circuit and repair the board where possible.

Board-Level Recovery Instead of Trial-and-Error Repair

When the data is important, trial-and-error repair can make the situation worse. A dead MacBook needs careful diagnosis before parts are replaced or power is repeatedly applied.

Board-level recovery means testing the logic board to identify the actual cause of failure. This may involve finding a shorted capacitor, replacing a failed USB-C controller, repairing corrosion, restoring an SSD power rail or temporarily stabilising the MacBook enough to complete a backup.

In many data recovery cases, the goal is not to make the MacBook perfect for long-term daily use. The first goal is to get the original board working safely enough to access and recover the customer’s files.

Our logic board repair case studies show technical examples of how we diagnose no-power, water damage and power rail faults at component level.

No Fix, No Fee for Sydney MacBook Data Recovery

Sending a dead MacBook interstate can feel risky, especially when the data is important. Our No Fix, No Fee policy helps reduce that risk.

If we cannot repair the fault or recover the required data, you do not pay the repair fee. We will explain the result clearly, including whether the issue is caused by severe NAND or SSD damage, encryption problems, Apple security system failure, corrosion, board damage or previous repair attempts.

Why Sydney Customers Choose IT-Tech Online

Sydney customers choose IT-Tech Online because we focus on advanced MacBook faults where normal repair methods may not solve the problem. Our work is especially suited to dead MacBooks, soldered SSD recovery, water damage and no-power logic board faults.

Dead MacBook Data Recovery

A MacBook with no power may still contain recoverable data. We specialise in diagnosing and repairing the original logic board so the MacBook can reach a state where data can be copied where possible.

Soldered SSD MacBook Experience

Many newer MacBooks do not have a removable SSD. The storage is part of the logic board, so recovery often depends on repairing or temporarily reviving the original board.

Water Damage Logic Board Repair

Liquid damage can affect tiny components, charging chips, connectors and power rails. We diagnose the actual failed circuit instead of guessing or replacing major parts unnecessarily.

No Fix, No Fee

If we cannot repair your MacBook or recover the required data, you do not pay the repair fee. This gives Sydney customers more confidence when sending a difficult MacBook case by mail.
