13-Inch MacBook Pro Water Damage No Power Repair
This 13-inch MacBook Pro A2338 came to us after water damage. The customer reported that the MacBook had no power.
When we tested the machine, it showed signs of trying to start, but it could not complete a normal power-up. That usually means the problem is deeper than a charger or battery issue and needs proper board-level diagnosis.
What We Found
Both USB-C ports showed the same repeating power behaviour. That was an important clue because it suggested the fault was not just one bad charging port.
We then checked the main power rail and found that it was unstable. Instead of staying steady, it kept dropping and recovering during the startup attempt.
This pointed us toward the charging circuit on the logic board.
The Faulty Part
After testing the related components, we found that R5262 was faulty.
This small part should have measured 1 ohm, but instead it measured more than 1k ohms. That abnormal reading was enough to disrupt the charging and power path, stopping the MacBook from starting properly.
Once R5262 was replaced, the MacBook powered on normally again.
Why This Repair Matters
This is a good example of why water-damaged MacBooks should be checked carefully at board level before replacing major parts.
The fault in this case was not the whole board. It was a single failed component in the charging circuit.
With the right tools and board-level experience, the original logic board could be repaired and the MacBook returned to full working condition.
Final Result
After replacing the faulty component:
- the MacBook powered on normally
- the charging behaviour returned to normal
- the machine was fully functional again
